Job Summary

Amgen’s Analytical Research and Development organization seeks an outstanding scientist to support early phase small molecule drug development activities at our Cambridge, MA facility.  Key responsibilities of this leadership position include providing separation, purification, identification, and characterization support for raw and synthetic starting materials, reference standards, impurities, intermediates, and final drug substance and products, which are part of Amgen’s small molecule R&D portfolio.  Duties will involve developing, qualifying, implementing, and transferring analytical techniques and methods to internal and/or external testing laboratories.  Other responsibilities include providing analytical support for synthetic process and formulation development and optimization activities, and GLP/GMP release and stability testing of early phase drug substances intended to be used in clinical and/or toxicology studies.  The successful candidate will also participate in and contribute to key/critical teams across a matrix organization.

 

Basic Qualifications

A Ph.D. degree in chemistry

5+ years of hands-on industry experience in the field of small molecule analytical drug development activities

Strong hands-on abilities in the field of separation sciences

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong abilities in troubleshooting, problem-solving, data review and interpretation, multi-tasking, and leading others in a multi-disciplinary cross-functional environment

Knowledge of cGMP and other regulatory requirements

 

Preferred qualifications:

A Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry

7+ years of years of hands-on industry experience in the field of small molecule analytical drug development activities
